Shane Beamer Disappointed With Loss, But Praises Team's Effort

Gamecocks Now 4-5 Overall, 2-4 in SEC Play

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The South Carolina Gamecocks suffered a disappointing loss to the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, falling 24-14 at Kroger Field. The loss drops South Carolina to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in SEC play.

South Carolina coach Shane Beamer was disappointed with the loss, but he praised his team's effort. "I'm disappointed that we didn't win the game, but I'm proud of the way our guys fought," Beamer said. "We played hard for 60 minutes, and we just came up short."

The Gamecocks were led by quarterback Spencer Rattler, who threw for 178 yards and a touchdown. Running back MarShawn Lloyd added 75 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Kentucky was led by quarterback Will Levis, who threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Chris Rodriguez added 122 yards rushing and a touchdown.

The Gamecocks will return to action next Saturday when they host the Missouri Tigers at Williams-Brice Stadium. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
